Richard Cockerill wants his Edinburgh side to back up their remarkable win over Glasgow Warriors with victory at Scotstoun this coming Saturday.
Edinburgh inflicted Warriors’ first Pro14 defeat of the season in stunning fashion at Murrayfield, despite losing Simon Berghan to a sixth-minute red card.
Glasgow host their rivals on 30 December in the second 1872 Cup match, Scotland’s rugby match of the of the day on Saturday.
“We’ve proved this group can do it under pressure and adversity,” Cockerill stated to a media scrum ahead of the weekend encounter.
“But Glasgow are a good side, we know they’re hurt, we know they’re going to work this week as we will, and it lends for a great game next week.
“Can we back it up? That is the question and that is the next step for our development.”
The 1872 Cup is played over three matches this season and another Edinburgh win would leave Glasgow playing only for pride in the final match up.
