EK Prepare For Historic Cup Tie
Volunteers helped clear K-Park of snow on Sunday as the non-leaguers of East Kilbride prepared for their historic tie with fellow minnows Lothian Thistle HV on Wednesday night. K-Park is also closed on Monday evening as hopes of a thaw continue and it is hoped an area will be cleared to allow the EK main squad to train ahead of the 4th Round match in midweek.
The winners of the game on Wednesday will face Celtic either at home or at a neutral venue to be decided in the 5th Round and the game will be televised live on BBC Scotland.
Eyemouth Utd and Elgin City [ then of the Highland League ] have made the last eight of the Scottish Cup as non-league sides while Whitehill Welfare lost to Celtic once at Easter Road after they had been draw at home in the Midlothian village of Rosewell.
Non-league teams can switch cup ties against League opposition to neutral venues but unlike England they cannot swap the tie to the away club’s ground which means there is no chance of EK or Lothian Thistle HV playing Celtic at Parkhead.
